Benjamin Williamson started taking photography seriously in 2012. Before that he was trying to 'make it' as a musician, in his own words “I was willing to sacrifice as much as that dream required, and I wasn't a very good singer.” Soon after that he started taking his wife's camera out on adventures to document what he was seeing. He found photography filled the creative space his music had been taking up. At first he was just exploring his curiosity wherever it took him. Then he became obsessed with the act of making images, editing them, and sharing them online. He started seriously taking photos in 2012 and has barely put the camera down since. A lifelong love of history and following the weather have combined in photographs that feature classic Maine and New England scenery in beautiful light and unusual conditions.
He really didn't look at other photographers when first he started, that came later. At first he was just exploring own curiosity wherever it took him. In late 2016 he became the director of photography for Down East Magazine.
Benjamin lives in Brunswick, Maine with his wife Kimberly, daughter Charlotte and two dogs, Lilly and Will.
